On Sunday, August 13, the 2019/20 champions Liverpool are scheduled to visit Stamford Bridge for Mauricio Pochettino’s debut game as Chelsea manager. Pochettino will have pressure to perform well early after a disastrous last year in which Chelsea finished 12th, 45 points behind winners City, despite investing £600 million on new players.

The quest for a record fourth straight Premier League championship by Manchester City will get underway away against newly promoted Burnley.
On Friday, August 11, in what will serve as the season opener for Burnley, Pep Guardiola will square off against his renowned former City captain Kompany, who could not have asked for a tougher start in his first top flight game as Burnley manager.
City, who have claimed five of the last six titles and completed an incredible treble last weekend, are attempting to become the first team in English football history to win four straight crowns.
As the schedule for the 2023/24 Premier League season was released on Thursday morning, Kompany, who won four Premier League ts during a brilliant 11-year tenure with City, is not the only manager who will have a difficult first managerial outing.
On Saturday, August 12, Luton Town’s first Premier League season will begin at Brighton. It will undoubtedly be a historic day for the Bedfordshire club and manager Rob Edwards. The following day, Sheffield United, the other newly promoted team, hosts Crystal Palace.
Erik ten Hag could not have wished for a more difficult start to his second season at Manchester United, by which time Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani may be fighting it out for ownership at Old Trafford.

On Monday, August 14, United kicks off its first five games against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home before playing Tottenham away, Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford, Arsenal away, and Brighton at home. United has fallen to Brighton in their last three league games.
Ange Postecoglou won’t have to wait long to experience his first north London derby, as the new Spurs boss is scheduled to visit the Emirates Stadium on September 23 to take on Arsenal. On October 7, Arsenal will welcome the champions to the Emirates after spending the majority of the previous season as the league’s front-runners before faltering under siege from a relentless City.
On October 28, the week after Liverpool hosts Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the new season, the first Manchester derby of the new season is scheduled to take place at Old Trafford. On November 25, Liverpool and Manchester City will square off at the Etihad.
There won’t be a gap as there was last year, when the Premier League season had to be put on hold for six weeks to make room for the winter World Cup in Qatar. Two days before Christmas, there will also be games, with Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool being the best of the group.
On Boxing Day, there will be the customary slate of games, and on December 30, there will be another slate of contests, most notably Liverpool hosting Newcastle, the team that defeated the Merseyside club to qualify for the Champions League the previous year.
Along with a favorable start to their most recent championship defense, City also faces what appears to be a favorable run of games against Forest on the road, Wolves at home, Fulham on the road, and West Ham at home in their final four contests. Nine days earlier than in the previous season, the season is scheduled to end on May 19.
The schedule is flexible, and games may be altered to accommodate television coverage or to accommodate potential team advancement in local and European cup tournaments.
